BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Lysias, circa 130-125 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 2.47 g, 12 h), Indian standard, uncertain mint in Paropamisadai or Gandhara. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ANIKHTOY - ΛYΣIOY Draped bust of Lysias to right, wearing elephant skin headdress. Rev. 'Maharajasa apadiatasa Lisikasa' (in Karoshti) Herakles standing facing, placing his right hand on his head and holding club, lion skin and palm frond in his left; to left, monogram. Bopearachchi 4A. HGC 12, 240. Sharply struck and very attractive, a splendid example. Extremely fine.
